Part-time Office Help Needed
Healing Tree Counseling has been part of the New River Valley community since 2012 — a small, women and LGBTQIA+-owned mental health practice in Blacksburg built on the idea that people deserve responsive, organized, compassionate care from the very first phone call.
That first phone call is often yours to answer. We are looking for someone who genuinely enjoys being the person who holds things together — who can field a call from a new client, respond to a clinician's message, process the mail, and make sure the waiting room looks welcoming, all without losing track of any of it. If that sounds like a good day rather than a stressful one, keep reading.
THE BASICS
Part-time, 20–25 hours per week, Monday through Friday
Flexible daily schedule within the 10 AM–5 PM window — we will find hours that work for both of us, and then keep them consistent
$15–$16 per hour, based on experience
EHR training provided — prior experience with a health record system is a plus, not a requirement
WHAT THIS ROLE REALLY IS
You will be the communication hub of a busy mental health practice — routing information between clients, clinicians, insurance companies, and ownership, making sure nothing slips through. On any given day you might onboard a new client, process an insurance document, coordinate a schedule change, and tidy up the physical space. The variety is real, and so is the responsibility.
YOU'RE A STRONG FIT IF YOU
Have experience in customer service, including phone work — you are comfortable talking to people who are sometimes stressed or uncertain
Are genuinely organized and detail-oriented — not just on a good day, but consistently
Can take in information from multiple directions at once and know what to do with it
Have worked in a medical or mental health setting before (preferred, not required)
Bring warmth and steadiness to every interaction
TO APPLY
Email your resume to jobs@htcounseling.com and introduce yourself to Jennifer Mercier and Kathryn Ryder. No lengthy cover letter needed — just tell us a little about your experience and what draws you to this kind of work.
We are committed to a team and a workplace that reflects and affirms every person who comes through our door.
