It can be difficult to find our way through the maze of life’s complexities without the nurturing support of others. It is through relationships that we find the greatest opportunity to heal the hurts of the past and gain the confidence to face the challenges of the day. A therapeutic relationship can help facilitate this process.
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who has earned degrees from Johns Hopkins University and Radford University. For twenty years, I have worked in the public and private sectors, helping people who are experiencing difficulties with depression and anxiety, trauma, grief/loss, and suicidal/self-harming behavior. I have served in various professional capacities providing out-patient, crisis-intervention, school-based and prevention services to children, adolescents, and families in the New River Valley.
I enjoy helping people discover and use their strengths and resources to overcome obstacles to personal growth and satisfying relationships. I value the experience of each individual and recognize their ability to evaluate both the therapeutic alliance and the treatment itself.
Treatment modalities I employ include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy, mindfulness-based strategies, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Family Systems.
I welcome opportunities to work with diverse populations, families, adolescents, and adults.
